This initiative aims at improving the capacity of the African Union Commission and Regional Economic Communitites to monitor the ratification, domestication and implementation of legal instruments on gender, and use an evidence-based approach to gender equality and women’s empowerment. Among its objectives, the project aims at developing capabilities and accountability to increase women's participation and leadership in decision-making, and enhancing women's political participation, with particular focus on reducing gaps between countries in terms of women’s access to elected offices, and achieving gender parity in regional structures.

This initiative aims at strengthening women's empowerment and engagement of youth as key prerequisites for more inclusive citizen participation in community democratization and development. This includes advancing the leadership potential and skills of women vis-à-vis community development processes, and support institutionalization of their participation modalities.

This initiative aims to assess risks and vulnerabilities of the ongoing Armenia's public sector reform through a gender prism, with a particular focus on the Office of the Prime Minister, few selected Ministries and the Yerevan municipality. Specifically, the project focuses on: revamping the recruitment procedures and practices in selected public bodies to promote women's role in higher levels of public administration; enhancing gender responsive training, staff development and coaching functions with focus on promoting young women cadre.

This initiative aims at strengthening the Association of Women Police Officers, the Agency for Gender Equality and the BiH Ministry of Security by deepening and dialogues on gender equality policies and their application within their thematic area. It also aims at raising awareness on sexual and gender-based harassment policies, promoting the importance of gender equality in law enforcement agencies and improving the role of women in the security sector.

The Women Forum for Development (WF4D) was instituted by UNDP in partnership with the Agency for Gender Equality of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a networking platform for 1800 women leaders, civil society members, activists, women grassroots, experts, practitioners, and academia. The platform operates across four issue coalitions, one of which focuses on transformative leadership.
This initiative supports governments at national, entity and Brčko District levels in translating gender equality as a development accelerator into action, by working with the relevant line ministries on gender responsive financial and planning systems. This entails design and delivery of technical assistance packages, capacity development, creation of knowledge and on-the-job support to government institutions towards new gender responsive policy tools, with focus on social protection, care economy and circular/green economy.

This initiative focuses on women in elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a focus on strengthening women’s leadership and participation in political and public life. In particular, the project focuses on empowering elected women leaders, through capacity building, networking, building partnerships with authorities to institutionalize changes for gender equality; as well as fostering women's political participation, by strengthening civic engagement and working with the Gender Parliamentary Commission and political parties to promote gender-sensitive practices, candidacy of women, and greater inclusion of women in decision-making positions.

This initiative aims to encourage increased political participation of women in Costa Rica’s 2020 municipal elections through strategies that promote a higher number of women candidates for decision-making positions. The project focuses on achieving this goal through three main initiatives: 1. Promoting and raising awareness of women’s political participation and subjection to political violence at the local level; 2. Training community leaders and women politicians with a toolbox focused on relevant topics; and 3. Establishing a resource to promote understanding of women’s route in political participation that details the opportunities, obstacles, and structural exclusion they face.

This initiative aims to ensure an effective and sustainable running of a free, transparent, credible and inclusive electoral process, in accordance with international standards. Among its activities, the project includes those aiming at combating electoral violence, raising awareness on the importance of women's participation in democratic processes, promoting the civic rights of women and young people, and ensuring inclusive participation in elections for women and young people.

This initiative outlines strategic interventions to deepen and transform democratic governance in Kenya. Among its objectives, the project aims at enhancing women legislators' skills and knowledge to advance legislation that upholds gender equality and women's empowerment, strengthening the capacity of the judiciary to promote gender mainstreaming, and accelerating support for women in leadership, through grassroot support, open dialogues and gender responsive legal education programmes.

The first Women's Kurultai were established in 2021 in the Naryn, Osh and Chui provinces to boost women's empowerment and their participation in political, social, economic development in Kyrgyzstan. The initiative was initiated by women activists with the support of the Council for the Rights of Women, Children and Gender Equality under the Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Forum of Women Deputies, with support from UNDP. The initiative continued through 2023 with the support of new representatives of the General Council for Women and Family Affairs, and Women's Kurultai were held in other regions of Kyrgyzstan.
