Support for Enhancing the Fight Against the Illegal Possession, Misuse and Trafficking of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) in the Western Balkans

As a part of comprehensive support to authorities to effectively combat the misuse of small arms, the initiative aims to strengthen capacities of relevant institutions for mainstreaming gender into SALW control. Within this context, the project specifically aims at contributing to increased representation of women in arms control.

Strengthening of Regional Cooperation on Gender Mainstreaming in Security Sector Reform in the Western Balkans (II phase)

This initiative aims at strengthening the capacities of Gender Equality Mechanisms in the Ministries of Defense and Armed Forces. This is done by: (i) working with HR departments in Ministries of Defense and Armed Forces to collect and analyze sex-disaggregated data to develop and implement gender responsive policies; (ii) supporting the Armed Forces to prevent and respond to gender-based discrimination and sexual harassment through training, identification of gaps in policies and procedures, development of guidelines, and toolkits; and (iii) developing gender-sensitive military curricula to ensure that the next generation of Armed Forces staff understands why gender equality is key to fulfilling their mission.

Strengthening Parliamentary Democracy and Inclusive Political Dialogue (III phase)

This initiative aims to address effectiveness of elected assemblies through facilitation of continuous cross-party dialogue (parliamentary caucuses and committees' level) by focusing on political dialogue, transparency and gender equality. Among its objectives, the project focuses on strengthening women's participation in politics at local and national level, including by supporting the efforts of the Women's Parliamentary Network and promoting the meaningful inclusion of women's groups and women's rights defenders in the work of elected assemblies. The project also aims at supporting elected assemblies in debating gender equality issues in public hearings and other dialogue forums, and addressing the issue of sexism, discrimination and violence against women parliamentarians.

Strengthened Civic Engagement for Enhanced Democratic Local Governance in Türkiye

This initiative aims to create an enabling environment for increased awareness and engagement of civil society into policy-making processes, through innovative community-based initiatives and the promotion of volunteerism in Türkiye. In particular, the project targets and involves CSOs working on gender equality and women's empowerment issues at local/regional level in order to incorporate gender equality in the local agenda, and benefits from the European Charter for Equality of Women and Men in Local Life, launched by the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) in 2006, whose adoption will be promoted among local leaders and local authorities.

Assistance in implementation of the National Human Rights Action Plan (NHRAP) of Turkmenistan for 2021-2025

This initiative aims at raising awareness and building a culture of gender equality through increasing civil servants' knowledge and capacities on gender issues, empowering women, and creating equal opportunities in politics, economy, social life. As part of the initiative, a course on gender responsive governance was developed jointly with the Working Group on Educational Courses on Human Rights, coordinated by the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan.

Enhancing women's political participation at the subnational level

The project aims to promote gender equality at the subnational level through (1) increasing the civil and political participation of women, especially rural women and women with disabilities who are running in upcoming local elections; (2) mentoring elected local women councillors; and (3) strengthening institutional capacity for gender responsive decision-making in amalgamated territorial communities.

Strengthening civic space and voice of women and youth to enhance the role of Anti-Corruption Agency in Uzbekistan

The initiative aims to resolve the key two-dimensional development challenge to fight corruption in Uzbekistan, from the supply and demand side. Particular emphasis is given to promoting gender equality and women's empowerment in activities, particularly the application of innovative solutions on reducing red tape and corruption in public services provision; promoting the adoption of gender-sensitive anti-corruption policies; empowering civil society organizations focusing on gender issues, women's movements and media; conducting educational and awareness-raising activities among the above-mentioned stakeholders; and organizing capacity development activities on gender issues.

Programme For Advancement Gender Equity & Equality

This initiative aims to address persistent gender gaps in the Zambian society, which negatively affect the country's development trajectory. Women's political participation is especially advanced in activities that focus on political organizations, public and private service providers, and financial institutions, to adopt affirmative actions to include women and girls in decision-making and access to opportunities and services.
